From SketchUp viewport to client-ready AI render

A SketchUp screenshot already contains the camera, massing, openings, and composition. The strongest AI workflow treats that view as the authority, improves the visual finish, and checks the output before it enters a client deck.

1. Save the camera before rendering

Compose the viewport as the final photograph. Use a believable eye height, control verticals when needed, and avoid an extreme field of view unless it is intentional.

Save the camera, visible tags, style, and shadow state as a named Scene. This gives the team a stable source for alternatives and a reference for review.

2. Make the visible geometry readable

Resolve reversed faces and obvious gaps. Give walls and slabs visible thickness where the camera exposes an edge. Keep repeated windows, rails, stairs, and roof profiles clear.

  • Hide axes, guides, dimensions, and selection outlines.
  • Remove temporary objects and construction geometry.
  • Use simple colour zones for floors, walls, glass, joinery, and landscape.
  • Keep important details away from the crop edge.

3. Export a clean source image

Export PNG or high-quality JPEG at the final aspect ratio. Use at least presentation resolution, with enough pixels to describe thin mullions, rails, and material boundaries.

A direct screenshot can work, but an image export avoids interface elements and gives more predictable dimensions.

4. Direct materials, light, and context

Name concrete decisions. Specify timber species, stone tone, glazing character, sky condition, time of day, planting density, and the intended presentation mood.

Keep preservation instructions separate and explicit. Ask to retain the camera, massing, roofline, floor count, openings, stairs, and fixed joinery visible in the source.

5. Run the pre-presentation check

Open the saved SketchUp Scene next to the AI result. Do not rely on memory. Check the structure first and record any accepted visual differences.
